Jongyoon Cho, a student in the integrated M.S.-Ph.D. program, and Nahyun Kim, a master’s student (advised by Professor Dongwook Kim), received the Outstanding Oral Presentation Award at the2025 Spring Meeting and the 101st General Meeting of the Korean Physical Society, held from April 23 (Wednesday) to April 25 (Friday) at the Daejeon Convention Center.

This meeting consisted of 1,316 paper presentations, including a keynote speech, 303 special lectures, 516 general oral presentations, 497 poster presentations and etc. 2,250 people participants were able to share recent study findings and academic exchange.

Ms. Jongyoon Cho presented her research titled“Optical and Electrical Characterizations of MoS₂ Monolayers on Au Nanostructures: Nanowires vs. Nanoislands.”In her presentation, she discussed the stacking of MoS₂ monolayers—a representative two-dimensional semiconductor material—on plasmonic gold nanostructures, and examined how the geometric form of these nanostructures influences light–matter interactions.Ms. Nahyun Kim received the Outstanding Presentation Award for her presentation titled“Embedding Au Nanowires for Enhanced Plasmonic Effects and Reduced Deformation in MoS₂ Monolayers.”In her study, she presented experimental results demonstrating improved photoluminescence efficiency by minimizing mechanical deformation in MoS₂ monolayers while maximizing plasmonic effects through embedded gold nanowires.
