Professor Mikyung Choi of the Korean-French Translation Major at the Graduate School of Translation and Interpretation won the Honorary Award in the Translation into Foreign Language section of Charlotte Publishing Culture Award on November 28th (Tue) at Paju Book City.

The Lotte Foundation’s Charlotte Publishing Culture Award has recognized books, authors, publishers, or translators that made a thriving publishing culture. Professor Choi won the Honorary Award in the Translation into Foreign Language section for her works of introducing Korean literature to the global audience. The jury commended Professor Choi’s translation of forty or more books – from classical works like The Tale of Chunhyang, The Tale of Byeongangsoe, exile poems by Yak-yong Jeong (art name: Dasan), and Memorabilia of the Three Kingdoms to contemporary authors’ works, including Sok-yong Hwang, Seung Woo Lee, Kang Han, Ae-ran Kim, Yeonsu Kim, and Chan-soon Park. Her translation of At Dusk by Sok-yong Hwang, the winner of the Émile Guimet Prize in 2018, also played a significant role in her winning of this award.
