On October 3 (Tue.), the Ministry of Personnel Management announced 363 successful candidates in the 2021 Open Competitive Examination for National Public Service for Grade V Positions and the Diplomatic Service Examinations. Among them, In-yeong Noh (Economics, incoming class of 2017) who applied for a general administrative position and Min-yeong Lee (Science Education, incoming class of 2018) who applied for an education administrative position for National Public Service for Grade V Positions scored the highest, reaffirming the reputation of Ewha as a prestigious private university that produces elite female public officials.

In addition, Ewha showed an even distribution of successful candidates across all other service positions, including Ji-eun An (Economics, incoming class of 2015) and Han-ju Yang (Public Administration, incoming class of 2016) for general administrative positions, Da-won Yun (Statistics, incoming class of 2018) for a finance and economy position, and So-hui Park (German Language & Literature, graduating class of 2012) for an international trade position for National Public Service for Grade V Positions.

Ewha also made the remarkable achievement of producing four successful candidates in the Diplomatic Service Examinations, overcoming the high competition rate of 37.2 to 1 with only 40 final successful candidates selected among a total of 1,486 applicants. Hyo-jin So (English Language & Literature, graduating class of 2021), Bo-mi Park (Economics, graduating class of 2018), So-yeon Jeong (Social Welfare, graduating class of 2022), and So-yeon Park (French Language & Literature, incoming class of 2014), who earned the honor of being final successful candidates, will be appointed as diplomats after a year of training at the Korea National Diplomatic Academy.

The Ewha Career Development Center (President Il Hyun Jo) has been actively promoting the entry of Ewha family members into public posts by operating many specialized programs offered by the university, such as professor-prepared mock tests, test reviews, interview guidance, and mentorship programs, led by the Guiding Committee for the National Public Service Examination Preparation Team (Chairperson Chung Lae Cho). With this continued support, Ewha has enjoyed the reputation of being one of the top universities in terms of producing successful candidates in the state examinations, such as the youngest successful candidate of the Foreign Service State Examinations in 2013, the first-place successful candidate of the Legislative Service Examination for general administrative positions and the Administrative Service Examination for education administrative positions in 2015, three final successful candidates for the 2016 Diplomatic Service Examinations, the first-place successful candidate of the Administrative Service Examination for financial and economy positions in 2016, and the first-place successful candidate of the 2020 National Public Service Examination for Grade V Positions for education administrative positions, the successful candidate who passed both the Legislative Service Examination and the Open Competitive Examination for National Public Service for Grade V Positions, and the first-place successful candidates for the grade V general administrative and education administrative positions, thereby cementing the school’s status as a major institution that is leading the “female boom” in the state examinations.
