Ewha Hosted the 129th Anniversary Commemoration Ceremony

Ewha celebrated its 129th anniversary at the Welch-Ryang Auditorium on Friday, May 29th.
President Choi Kyunghee announced in her commemoration speech, “In 1886, American missionary Mary F. Scranton started teaching classes for women at her home in Jeong-dong with only one student. However, since that time, Ewha has made its history as the leading pioneer in fostering global female talent towards profound contribution to society.”
President Choi Kyunghee, Honorary President Yun Hu-Jeong, faculty members from all areas of Ewha, and esteemed guests participated in this commemorative event. Furthermore, the giving of the 11th ‘Ewha Scholarly Award’ and the commendation of school faculty, that have been at Ewha for 10, 20, and 30 years, took place during the celebration. Professor Jung Jae-seo (Department of Chinese Language and Literature) and Kim Kwang Ok, (Department of Food Science & Engineering) whom were recognized for their continuous efforts for education and contributions to academia of their fields, were awarded the 11th ‘Ewha Scholarly Award'.
Along with, the ‘Alumni Reunion’ was also hosted at Welch-Ryang Auditorium at 2 pm. During the event, Alumni Reconnect, Campus News from President Choi, and the introduction of ‘Ewha woman of this year’ was announced.
