Ewha cohosted the international conference for ‘Meridian 180’ with Cornell Law School

On March 31, 2015, Ewha and Cornell co-hosted the first international conference, "Democracy in an Age of Shifting Demographics" at Ewha University.
This event celebrated the committed partnership between Ewha and Cornell Law School for working together to facilitate international and interdisciplinary dialogue on social, economic, political, cutural and legal issues facing the Pacific Rim and beyond. Specifically, as of November 2014, Ewha Womans University became the Korea base for Meridian 180.
Participants of the conference included professors from Ewha, Professor Annelise Riles, a director of Meridian 180 and scholars/professionals from US, Australia, China and Japan.
Three main themes of this conference were: “values and ethics: hope, empathy, and human flourishing”, “the promises and shortcomings of redistribution policies”, and “fairness and equality.”
