3,510 Ewha Graduates on an Ambitious Path Toward the Wider World

The commencement ceremony for 2013 Ewha graduates was held at Welch-Ryang Auditorium on February 24, 2014. A total of 3,510 degrees were awarded, including 2,243 bachelor’s, 1,145 master’s and 122 doctoral degrees.
President Kim Sun-Uk said in her address during the ceremony, “The degrees conferred upon you are the results of your hard work and effort.” Furthermore, she added words of encouragement to graduates; “All of you have overcome obstacles and challenges to obtain outstanding results; now you will advance into society as intellectuals necessary to face the demands of this era.”
A total of ten graduates were selected for top honors consisting of one from each college, while Yun Hye-mi (English Language and Literature, freshman class of 2008) and Yang Ji-won (Life Sciences, freshman class of 2010) were tied for the highest academic result at a score of 4.28 GPA out of the perfect GPA score of 4.3.
In addition, Ewha conferred bachelor’s degrees upon some 40 international students from a diverse range of countries including Russia, Singapore, Japan, China, Cambodia, and Congo.
