Ewha Operates 'School Me' with Save the Children

On November 15, Ewha signed an agreement with Save the Children, an international non-governmental organization that provides relief and development, to operate the “School Me” campaign. Ewha also agreed to lead the education of 60,000 children in Africa including 35,000 girls until 2016.
The “School Me” campaign is a project that will provide educational opportunities for girls in four African countries: Sierra Leone, Liberia, the Republic of Cote d’lvoire, and Uganda. Support through this campaign will provide resources for girls who cannot afford to be educated due to various factors such as domestic duties, early marriage, and poverty. Ewha and Save the Children plan to make joint efforts into industry-academic research and publicity activities to promote a better educational environment for girls in Africa.
At the declaration ceremony for the campaign which was held at the ECC Valley after the agreement ceremony, the “Bells of Ewha” event was held along with an exhibition of ad balloons and “School Me” campaign posters. In addition, Ewha students participated in the event by writing supportive messages on sticky notes, spelling out the words “School Me” by sticking pencils, and posting the photos of the event on social networking services.
