Ewha, Bound for Mutual Cooperation with the UN

President Kim Sun-Uk visited the United Nations Headquarters and met with Ban Ki-moon, the UN Secretary-General on October 22 to discuss the ways that Ewha can cooperate in strengthening the field of research, education, and women.

Kim also met Michelle Bachelet, the Under Secretary-General of 'UN Women' which will be launched on January 1, 2011. Kim was introduced the status and plans of UN Women and introduced the programs of Ewha that had contributed in fostering women leaders of under-developed countries. They shared plans and agreed to establish a partnership.

Kim held a meeting with Debora Spar, the president of Barnard College and introduced various programs that Barnard students can participate including the Ewha international summer college, and reached a consensus on the expanding the quality and size of the existing exchange between Ewha and Barnard.

Kim also met with the president of Office of Global Affairs and professors of Korean and East Asian studies of Princeton University and Rutgers University. She introduced the international summer college programs along with other programs at Ewha to strengthen Ewha's globalization through inbound as well as outbound programs.

In addition to the university visits, president Kim attended 'International Foundation Council for Ewha Womans University' meeting and reported recent state of Ewha. She also met with the 160 Ewha alumni at the annual alumni meeting of New York district and asked for their consistent support.
