‘Ewha Family's ECC Fall Excursion' Held
Ewha held the ‘Ewha Family's ECC(Ewha Campus Complex) Fall Excursion' at Samsung Hall, October 27th. The program included speech from Dominique Perrault, the world known French architect who designed ECC, welcoming reception, and walking tour around ECC facilities for the guests.
ECC is the biggest underground campus building in Korea with six underground floors equipped with hi-tech multi-purpose facilities and has become the landmark of Ewha since it opened in 2008.
Three hundred VIP guests attended the ceremony. The guests include Dominique Perrault, the architect, Elisabeth Laurin, the French Ambassador, Hong Ra-Hee, the former director-general of Leeum Samsung Museum of Art, Hyun Jung-Eun, Hyundai Group chairwoman, Yoon Hoo-Jung, the Chairperson of Ewha Haktang, Shin In-Ryung, the 12th former president and Kim Sun-Uk the president of Ewha Womans University. The staff members of Samsung Corporation and Baum Architect who participated in the construction attended the ceremony as well.
"ECC has changed the lay of the land in the campus. I would like to express my gratitude to everyone for the support and the interest toward Ewha", President Kim Sun-Uk said in the congratulating speech during the ceremony.
Dominique Perrault said, "The ECC project is not a mere construction of a building. It means establishing a link between the school and the community. I hope that ECC devotes to good memories about the campus life for Ewha students and eventually develope within the campus."
ECC was awarded Grand Prize for 2008 Seoul Architecture Award, 2009 Green Good Design Award, and AFEX French World Architecture Grand Prix 2010. ECC will also have its miniature model exhibited in Museum of Modern Art in New York.
