Ewha Faculty and Team Win Awards for Excellent Research Performance

Professor Woo Hyun-Ae Awarded Grand Prize from 'Next Generation Researcher of Bioneer Award'

Professor Woo Hyun-Ae from the Graduate School of Life & Pharmaceutical Sciences was awarded grand prize from the 'Bioneer Award for Researcher of Next Generation'.

'Bioneer Award for Researcher of Next Generation' is awarded to young scientists who have achieved excellent research performance in the area of molecular biology and cell biology. The award winner is selected by 'Korean Society for Molecular and Cellular Biology' and sponsored by 'Bioneer'.

Professor Woo is a Ewha graduate with master's and doctoral degree and currently a research professor at Division of Life & Pharmaceutical Sciences, Ewha Womans University. She has been showing distinguishing performance in the area, writing thesis on Prx in the renowned U.S. science journal, ‘Science' in 2003. She has also published her research paper with Ewha's distinguished professor, Lee Seo-gu on science journal 'Cell' in 2010 on the subject of operating principles of active oxygen which is known to be the cause of aging.


Professor Choi Sun and Her Team Wins Award for Best Poster Presentation from 'International Symposium of Drug Development and Clinical Trial'

Professor Choi Sun and her team, Lee Jin Hee(doctoral course in Life Sciences) and Kim Bo Yeon(master's degree in Life Sciences), won award for Best Poster Presentation from an international symposium of drug development and clinical trial, 'The 18th Euro QSAR Symposium, Discovery Informatics & Drug Design' held in Rhodes Island in Greece.

The team has worked undr the support of 'National Core Research Center for Cell Signaling & Drug Discovery Research', '21st Century Frontier R&D Program', and 'Brain Korea 21' to work on 'Model Research on Cytochrome P450 Ligand Using Machine Learning' and resulted in being awarded for Best Poster Presentation.

The symposium was held by Cheminformatics and QSAR Society, one of the authoritative societies in the area of computer assisted drug and is supported by 'Europe Medicine and Chemistry Society'. Global pharmaceutical companies including Pfizer, GSK, and researchers in the drug designing filed from research centers of prestigious universities participated and held presentations and discussions.
