Ewha Propels Exchange Agreements with the Bryn Mawr College, the University of Pennsylvania, and Temple University

President Kim Sun-Uk has put forth her first step in strengthening Ewha's global capacity from Septemeber 21 to 26. She has visited Bryn Mawr College, the University of Pennsylvania, and Temple University to participate in the international conference on 'Women's Education in a Global Context' and also discussed on further exchange and partnership agreements for Ewha.

President Carol Christ of Smith College, vice president Hoon Eng Khoo of National University of Singapore, president Kim Sun-uk, Dr. Lilian Wu of IBM, president Andrea Lee of St. Catherines University and the honorary president Judith Shapiro of Barnard College

Kim was invited as a panelist in the conference which was held to commemorate the 125th anniversary of Bryn Mawr College. She gave a speech on 'Closing the Gender Gap in Asia and across the World : Women's Higher Education' at the conference. She also carried discussion along with presidents of the renowned universities who include the honorary president of Barnard College and the president of Smith College.

The conference was under the theme of 'Heritage and Hope: Women's Education in a Global Context' and women leaders of the education field from all over the world participated in the conference for three days. Kim enhanced the international reputation of Ewha Womans University to the world by introducing Ewha's history and the endeavor eversince for the better life of women.

In addition to the conference, Kim held meetings with the presidents of the prestigious colleges and universities to expand the depth and the size of the exchanges with the schools. She met Jane McAuliffe, the president of Bryn Mawr College and agreed to start the exchange partnership. Bryn Mawr College is a women's college with long tradition and has been fostering women leaders of the U.S., one of whom is Drew Faust, the former president of Harvard University. Bryn Mawr College is also one of the so called 'Seven Sisters' which is known to be the Ivy League for women's colleges.

Kim visited the University of Pennsylvania and agreed on expanding the exchanges between the two universities in a broader level and strengthening the existing exchange partnership in the Natural Science field. She also held a meeting with Temple University and agreed on the signing an exchange agreement in the future.
