Pear Blossom Sharing Corps Places Ewha’s Value of Sharing into Practice
Taking the lead in spreading Ewha’s value of sharing through annual summer visits to the Goesan region
Receiving enthusiastic responses to various talent donations, including the newly introduced medical volunteer services
The fourth Pear Blossom Sharing Corps visited Goesan-gun, North Chungcheong Province, between June 24 and 27, carrying out a wide range of volunteer activities such as education, design, mural painting, and medical services. This volunteer initiative, jointly conducted by Ewha and the Goesan County Office, aims to promote shared growth with the local community and has taken place every summer since 2022.
The education volunteer team provided creative education, play and craft activities, and career exploration programs for elementary and kindergarten students at local children’s centers. The design volunteer team developed a logo and mascot character for the Goesan-gun Library. The mural painting volunteer team created an eco-friendly wall mural in Seobu-ri, contributing to the promotion of tourism in the area. Launched this year, the medical volunteer team—comprised of Ewha’s medical school professors, students, and alumnae—offered medical check-ups for the elderly, medication counseling for patients with chronic illnesses, health education, and telemedicine services, while alumnae specialists in obstetrics and gynecology and psychiatry also joined in the efforts.
This program was featured in the local media and received positive responses (Watch the video ), while the Goesan County Office expressed its appreciation for the volunteers’ talent donation. Starting with the successful completion of the Pear Blossom Sharing Corps’ volunteer activities, the Volunteer Services Team of the Office of Student Affairs will follow up with educational volunteer activities at home and abroad through the 2025 Ewha Summer Volunteers, embodying Ewha’s founding philosophy of Christian love for neighbors and spearheading the establishment of a more inclusive society.
