Opening of the Ewha Startup Open Space and the Ewha Startup E-Room Center
On November 7, 2023 (Tue.), the Ewha Womans University Campus Town Center held the opening ceremony of the Ewha Startup Open Space and the Ewha Startup E-Room Center, both of which are aimed at supporting the growth of young entrepreneurs.
The newly launched Ewha Startup Open Space, taking up one basement floor with a total ground area of 645 m2, will be operated as a co-working space for prospective entrepreneurs. Above all, its close proximity to the campus main gate would allow prospective entrepreneurs to interact and collaborate with the local community in various ways. The Ewha Startup Open Space will offer a wide range of programs to discover and develop business ideas by aspiring entrepreneurs, including startup exploration hackathons, entrepreneurship education, and sector-specific mentoring programs.
The Ewha Startup E-Room Center, launched together with the Open Space, was established by renovating Building E of I-house located near the Ewha-SK Telecom Center into a business incubating space for young entrepreneurs. The Ewha Startup E-Room Center, comprising four aboveground floors with a total ground area of 820 m2, offers effective support for young entrepreneurs by providing them with various spaces such as the co-working space, individual office room, education room, video studio, and meeting room. Another advantage is the ease of access to the campus back gate and Seongsan-ro. The Ewha Startup E-Room Center is planning to provide one-stop support for the growth of startups established by young entrepreneurs by providing the infrastructure necessary to establish a startup, conducting a customized business incubation program through prior diagnosis, and supporting business funds.
The Ewha Startup Open Space and the Ewha Startup E-Room Center have been established as part of the Seoul Campus Town Project. Previously, when participating in the Unit-type Campus Town Project in 2020, Ewha Womans University earned high recognition for its outstanding entrepreneurship support capabilities based on human and physical infrastructure, which led to its selection for the Integrated Campus Town Project in 2023. Ewha will conduct the project with a total funding of nearly KRW 6 billion over four years.
