Professor Ji Hwan Cha received his B.S. degree in Computer Science and Statistics from Seoul National University, Korea, in 1993; and his M.S., and Ph.D. degrees in Statistics from Seoul National University in 1995, and 1999, respectively. He is a Full Professor at the Department of Statistics, Ewha Womans University, Seoul, Korea. He is an associate editor of the Methodology and Computing in Applied Probability. He has published about 156 papers (up to Feb. 2024) in various international journals such as Journal of Applied Probability and Advances in Applied Probability. His research interests include applied probability, stochastic models for machine learning, temporal point process-based reinforcement learning, reliability theory, stochastic processes, stochastic operations research, and management science. He has published (co-authored with Dr. Maxim Finkelstein) two books entitled “Stochastic Modeling for Reliability: Shocks, Burn-in and Heterogeneous Populations” (2013, Springer), and “Point Processes for Reliability Analysis” (2018, Springer).
