Professor Il-Hyun Jo is a researcher specializing in the design, development, and evaluation of EduTech/big data-based teaching and learning environments, focusing on adult HR in corporations, public sectors, military, and universities. As of 2024, he is the lead researcher on projects such as "University for Entrepreneurial Startups Specialized in Laboratories" (Ministry of Education, Ministry of Science and ICT), "Intelligent and Visualized Gaze Tracking System" (Ewha Womans University Ewha Value-up Technology Commercialization Support Project), and "EduTech-based Modular K-PBL Teaching and Learning Model Development" (National Research Foundation of Korea, Humanities and Social Research Institute project). Recently completed projects include "Development of a Visual Interaction Enhancement and Fraud Prevention System for Real-time Video Education (Meetings)" (Ewha Womans University Ewha Value-up Technology Commercialization Support Project), "Design of Teaching and Learning Environment for Naver Business School Stages 1-2-3" (Naver Corporation), "Big Data-based VR Education and Training Evaluation" (Korean Army Education Command Science Training Project), "Analysis and Model Development of Ewha's Teaching and Learning System Using EduTech" (Ewha Womans University), "Human Resource Development Strategies for Civil Servants in the Post-COVID Era" (Ministry of Personnel Management), "Development of a Social Crowding-based Video Autonomous Learning Facilitation System" (Ministry of Science and ICT ICT Voucher Project), "Development of a Big Data Analytics-based Flipped Learning Design Model" (National Research Foundation Interdisciplinary Convergence Research Project), "Development of a University Smart Teaching and Learning Support Model Using Big Data" (National Research Foundation General Collaborative Research Project), and "Innovation Strategies for Nara Learning Center" (National Human Resources Development Institute). His research and practice have been recognized with inclusion in Marquis Who's Who (USA) and the International Biographical Centre (IBC, UK), among the two leading global biographical directories. He was awarded a Presidential Citation in 2019 for his contributions to HRD innovation for government officials. Dr. Jo received his Ph.D. in Instructional Systems from Florida State University (FSU), USA. Prior to joining academia, he practiced e-HRD for 14 years at Samsung Group, including Samsung C&T, Samsung Human Resources Development Center, and Credu (Samsung HRD). He is currently the Director of the EduTech Convergence Research Institute at Ewha Womans University. He provides policy advice to public institutions such as the Ministry of Personnel Management, the National Human Resources Development Institute, and Seoul Lifelong Education Center, as well as to private companies such as Naver and Multicampus. He has served as the President of the Korean Society for Corporate Education, the Director of Ewha's Center for Teaching and Learning, the Director of Ewha’s HRD Center, and the Head of the Department of Educational Technology. He has also carried out international consulting on human resource development and technology-based education for developing countries such as Vietnam, Indonesia, Bangladesh, and Morocco. As of 2024, Professor Jo has published over 140 papers in academic journals (including SSCI and KCI), authored or edited 12 books in Korean and English on learning analytics, and holds numerous intellectual property rights, including 29 registered patents, 10 patents under review, 2 technology transfers, and 6 software copyrights related to learning analytics systems.
