Dr. Yikweon Jang is a professor in the Department of Life Sciences, the Division of EcoScience, and the Interdisciplinary Program of EcoCreative at the Ewha University in Korea. He did his Ph.D. on behavioral ecology, evolutionary biology and bioacoustics at the University of Kansas in USA. His research interests focus on the evolution and ecology of the behaviors in acoustic animals such as crickets, cicadas, frogs, and dolphins. His current research projects include behavioral ecology and conservation of the treefrog (Genus Hyla) species, population dynamics and acoustic communication in cicadas, and conservation of the Indo-Pacific bottlenose dolphins in Jeju Island. Since 2012, he has coordinated several citizen-science projects such as "The Suwon Treefrog Explorer," “The Cicada Explorer,” and “The Acoustic Insects Explorer.”
