Jean Bouffard 교수는 캐나다 맥길대학교에서 학사를 마치고 미국 매사추세츠공과대학교에서 유기화학 박사를 마쳤으며 일본과 미국에서 연구를 계속해왔다. 그는 2012년부터 이화여자대학교 화학·나노과학전공 소속 교수로 재직 중이다. 그는 π결합으로 이루어진 분자 및 고분자, 유기 주요 그룹 화학, 유기금속 및 촉매화학과 같은 전반적인 유기물질들의 화학을 연구하는 분자설계연구실을 맡고 있다.
