손아정 교수는 이화여대 환경공학과 학사, 광주과학기술원 환경공학과 석사, 미국 델라웨어대학 토목환경공학과 박사학위를 받았다. 미국 캘리포니아 주립대학 데이비스분교에서 미국 NIH 수퍼펀드 박사후 연구원을 거쳐, 미국 어번대학에서 조교수 및 부교수로 재직 후 2013년이화여대로 부임하였다. 2011년 미국 NSF에서 수여하는 'CAREER 신진연구자상' 및 2012년 '어번대학 교수연구상'을 수상하였다. 연구분야는 나노바이오공학, 유전자 및 미량 오염물질 정량, 환경분석 및 검출기기 개발 등이며, 현재까지 다수의 논문을 <Biosensors and Bioelectronics>, <Environmental Science and Technology> 등에 발표하였다.
