박성연 교수는 미국 Northwestern University에서 마케팅 박사학위를 취득하였으며 현재 경영대학 경영학과 마케팅전공 교수로 재직하고 있다. 소비자행동, 브랜드관리, 사회공헌 및 비영리조직 마케팅에 관한 다수의 논문을 권위 있는 국제/국내 학술지에 발표하였으며 SCOPUS 등재 학술지인 <Journal of Global Scholars of Marketing Science>의 편집위원장과 <Journal of Business Review>의 Guest Editor를 역임하였다.
2015년 한국마케팅과학회 회장으로 선출되었으며, 2014 Global Marketing Conference at Singapore의 공동조직위원장, 한국마케팅학회 부회장, 한국국제경영학회 부회장, 마케팅 연구 편집위원 및 아름다운재단 기부문화연구소 부소장, 아름다운가게 마케팅자문교수, 경찰청 고객만족정책자문위원으로 활동하고 있다. 저서로는 『마케팅 신조류』와 번역서 『체험 마케팅』 등이 있다.
