박성연 교수는 미국 Northwestern University Kellogg Graduate School of Management에서 마케팅 박사학위를 취득하였으며 현재 경영대학 경영학과 마케팅전공 교수로 재직하고 있다. 소비자행동, 브랜드관리, 사회공헌 및 비영리조직 마케팅에 관한 다수의 논문을 권위 있는 국제/국내 학술지에 발표하였으며 S급 SSCI저널 Journal of Business Research의 Guest Editor, SCOPUS 등재 학술지인 Journal of Global Scholars of Marketing Science 편집위원장을 역임하였다.
한국마케팅학회장, 한국마케팅과학회 회장으로 선출되었으며, Global Marketing Conference at Singapore의 공동조직위원장, 금융위원회 금융발전심의회 위원, 우정사업본부(Korea Post) 운영위원, 중소벤처기업부 균형성장촉진위원회 위원, 삼성화재보험(주) 사외이사, 현대해상화재보험(주) 사외이사, (주)대홍기획 사외이사, 아름다운재단 이사, 아름다운재단 기부문화연구소장으로 활동하였다. 저서로는 『마케팅 신조류』와 번역서 『체험 마케팅』 등이 있다.
