이용현 교수는 현재 이화여자 대학교 약학대학에서 약제학(약물송달학)분야의 교수로 재직중에 있다. 부산대학교 약학대학에서 학/박사를 취득한 후, 한국과학기술원과 University of Michigan에서 Postdoctoral Researcher/Research Scientist로서 활발히 연구를 수행하였다. 의약화학, 나노약학, 면역공학등 다양한 분야에서 암 및 난치성염증질환의 효과적인 치료 및 조절을 목표로 장내미생물조절, 면역체계 조절 등 다양한 방식을 활용한 새로운 약물치료전략을 개발하여, 이 분야에서 세계적으로 권위 있는 국제학술지인 Nature Materials, Angewandte Chemie, Advanced Science, Biomaterials 등에 논문을 40 여편 발표하고 다양한 특허출원/등록/기술이전 등의 실적을 가지고 있다. 한국과학기술한림원에서 선정한 최우수 젊은 과학자상을 비롯한 다양한 분야에서 수상을 하였으며, 약물전달분야에서 세계적인 학회인 Controlled Release Society (CRS) Annual Meeting, Biomedical Engineering Society (BMES) Annual Meeting에서 강연을 하였고, 노벨상주간에 스웨덴 스톡홀름에서 열린 1st KAST(한림원)-KSSEA 젊은과학자/엔지니어 오픈포럼에 한국의 젊은 과학자 10인으로 참석하여 강연및 토론하는등, 활발한 연구활동을 펼치고 있다.
