차지환 교수는 자연과학대학 통계학 전공 소속 교수로, 응용 확률 분야에서의 다양한 주제에 관한 연구를 수행하고 있다. 서울대학교 통계학과에서 학사, 석사, 박사학위를 취득하였다. 2024년 2월까지 대략 156편의 SCI급 논문을 응용확률 분야 세계적 학술지인 <Journal of Applied Probability-16편>, <Advances in Applied Probability-5편>를 비롯한 다양한 국제 학술지에 게재하여 오고 있다. 영문판 저서로 『Stochastic Modelling for Reliability (Shocks, Burn-in and Heterogeneous Populations)』(2013), 『Point Processes for Reliability Analysis』(2018) 의 두 권을 세계적 출판사인 Springer 출판사를 통하여 출간하였다.
