양창원 교수는 사범대학 과학교육과(생물전공) 조교수로, 분자생체공학 전공으로 박사학위를 취득하였다. 난임 개선 및 임신기 질환 극복을 위한 분자 기전 연구, 세포외소포체 및 비암호화 RNA를 이용한 질환 진단 연구, 다양한 암 극복을 위한 치료 표적 발굴 연구, 환경오염 인자에 의한 독성 기전 연구 등을 분자세포생물학적인 관점에서 수행하였다. 현재는 비암호화 RNA의 조절에 의한 태반 발달의 분자 기전 연구와, 환경 노출에 의한 태아 프로그래밍을 기반으로 건강과 질병의 발생학적 기원에 대한 연구를 수행하고 있다.
