권용억 교수는 포항공대 화학과에서 정성기 교수의 지도하에 생유기화학 및 의약화학 분야에서 학사, 석사, 박사 학위를 받았다. 미국 MIT, 스위스 ETH에서 Seeberger 교수와 탄수화물 백신 관련 연구, 미국 UT-Southwestern Medical Center에서 Kodadek 교수와 펩토이드 기반 조합화학, 화학생물학 관련 연구를 하였다. 2008년에 이화여대 화학 나노과학전공에 부임하여 현재 교수로 재직중이다. 권용억 교수는 유기화학을 생물학이나 의약화학과 접목시키고자 하는 연구에 중점을 두고 있다. 현재까지 <J. Am. Chem. Soc.>, <Chem. Biol.>, <Chem. Commun.>, <Org. Lett.>, <Adv. Synth. Catal.>, <Sci. Rep.> 등 화학관련분야 최고의 저널에 다수의 논문을 발표해 오고 있다.
