김관묵 교수는 화학·나노과학전공 소속 교수로 아미노산의 키랄변환 연구에 관한 한 세계적으로 독보적인 존재이다. 유기 및 무기 화합물 합성 및 분석에 관하여 풍부한 경험을 가지고 있으며 특허의 기업이전을 통해 산업화의 길을 개척하고 있다. 김교수는 1989년부터 2004년까지 KIST에서 연구원으로 재직하다 2004년부터 이화여대에 부임하여 교수로 재직하고 있다. 현재는 아미노산을 포함하는 생체물질들의 단일키랄성의 원천에 대한 특별한 관심을 가지고 있다. 연세대-KIST 산학협동 프로그램을 통하여 박사학위를 취득하였으며 아미노산의 키랄변환 연구 성과가 2007년도 <Science>지에 하이라이트로 소개된 바 있다. 현재까지 총 50여편의 SCI급 논문 및 10여건의 국내외 특허 출원 및 등록 실적을 가지고 있다.
