이선복 교수는 사범대학 교육학과 부교수로 재직중이며 다양한 통계, 머신러닝, 빅데이터분석기법을 연구하고 이를 교육분야에 적용하는 연구들을 진행하고 있으며 특별히 학습자에게 맞춤형 학습을 제공할 수 있는 지능형튜터링시스템(Intelligent Tutoring System)연구에 관심이 많다. 미국 조지아대학교에서 물리학 전공 및 통계학 전공으로 각각 석사학위를, 교육심리(Quantitative Methodology) 전공으로 박사학위를 취득한 후, 조지아대학교 Center for Family Research(CFR), 홍콩시립대 공공정책학과, Massachusetts Institute of Technology(MIT) 물리학과에서 박사후 연구원을 거쳐 미국 휴스턴대학 심리학과 계량심리전공 조교수를 역임하였다.
