Dr. Shin obtained her bachelor's and master's degrees in nursing from Ewha Womans University and worked as a nurse in the pediatric hemato-oncology unit of Seoul Asan Medical Center.
She received her Ph.D. from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro in nursing with a thesis titled "Quality of Life and Symptom Management in Childhood Cancer Survivors." She worked as an assistant professor at Clemson University in South Carolina, USA. She is currently working as a reviewer at the Nursing Oncology Nursing Forum and Child Health Nursing Research. Dr. Shin’s research focuses on symptom management in patient with childhood cancer, quality of life, nursing education, interprofessional teamwork, perception of parenthood, quality of life in women experiencing infertility, and secondary data analysis.
She received funding from the Korean National Foundation regarding multidisciplinary teamwork for adolescent and young adult with cancer from 2022-2024. She enjoys collaboratively working with other scholars and teaching nursing students.
