신동해 교수는 약학대학 약학과 교수로 구조유전체학의 전문가이다. 서울대 화학과에서 단백질결정학으로 박사학위를 받았으며 미국 로렌스 버클리 국립연구소에서 Protein Structure Initiative I Project에 staff scientist로 참여하여서 단백질 구조규명을 통한 단백질 기능 예측이 기존의 방법보다 훨씬 정확하며 빠른 방법이라는 사실을 통계적으로 밝혀내었다. 현재까지 총 60여편의 논문을 SCI급 국제학술지에 발표하였다. 결정학과 컴퓨터 모델링 및 docking 융합 연구를 통하여 파킨슨, 알러지, 류비저등 질병관련 치료제 연구를 진행 중이다.
