최윤정 교수는 사범대학 교육학과 부교수로 다양한 교육측정평가이론과 교육연구방법을 적용하여 교육현상들을 이해하고 분석하는 연구를 진행하고 있다. 미국 조지아대학교에서 교육심리-양적 연구방법론(Quantitative Methodology) 전공으로 박사학위를 취득한 후, 매사추세츠 공과대학 물리학과의 Research in Learning, Assessing and Tutoring Effectively(RELATE) Educational Research Group에서 박사후 연구원을 거쳐 미국 알라바마대학교 사범대학 교육측정평가전공 조교수를 역임하였다.
2016년 미국 교육측정학회(NCME)에서 우수박사학위논문상(Brenda H. Loyd Outstanding Dissertation Award), 2020년 미국 교육학회(AERA)에서 우수논문상(Caribbean and African Studies in Education SIG Outstanding Research Paper Award), 2024년 한국교육평가학회에서 학술상-우수논문상을 수상하였다. 2019년 알라바마대학교 사범대학 강의우수교수(McCrory Faculty Excellence Award for Teaching), 2021년 본교 교육대학원 강의우수교수로 선정되었다. 본교 교육과학연구소가 출판하는 학술지 『교육과학연구』 편집위원장을 역임하였고, 한국교육평가학회의 이사로서 활동하고 있다.
