The Center for Cell Signaling & Drug Discovery Research was established in June, 2006, designated as a National Core Research Center by the Ministry of Science & Technology / Korea Science and Engineering Foundation.
The center seeks to discover target proteins for the development of treatment medicine for various diseases (cancer / heart-related / immunity-related / brain disease, etc) through inter-disciplinary research and education on the basics of cell signaling in life science, and applied research in pharmacentical science. It also seeks to secure new target diseases through validation, using reaction mechanism and animal models, for the development of new drugs to control the diseases.
Research on biomedicine will bring about successful results through close inter-disciplinary cooperation in the study of pharmacentical science for the research and application of basic life science. Those results will be applied to Korea's industrialization and contribute to the growth of the domestic pharmaceutical industry.

The center is also nurturing a professional workforce to play important roles in the development of Korea’s manufacturing for new drugs, through inter-disciplinary graduate programs combining the basic life science and pharmacentical science.
