Hyunju Lee is an associate professor in the Department of Science Education. She achieved her Ph.D. in the Department Curriculum & Instruction at University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Her research areas include but are not limited to socioscientific issues(SSI) education, instructional strategies for science teaching, and qualitative research methods. Currently she serves as an associated editor of Asia-Pacific Science Education(APSE) and as an exuecutive board member of Korean Association for Science Education, Korean Association for Learner-Centered Curriculum and Instruction, and Korean Association for Qualitative Inquiry. She has been published academic papers in prestigious international and domestic journals. Recently, she is involved in several projects on promoting active particiation and practices for the sustainable society through SSI education.
