Sang-ho Ro works on the intellectual and cultural history of early modern and modern Korea. He received his Ph.D. in East Asian Studies (Korean history) from Princeton University in 2012 and came to Ewha in 2013 after teaching as an instructor at Seoul National University and Inha University. His research concentrates on the history of knowledge, examining the historical transformation of Neo-Confucian epistemology and scientific research on the eve of the modern period. His latest book came out in 2021 from Routledge in a title of Neo-Confucianism and Science in Korea: Humanity and Nature, 1706-1814 (New York and London: Routledge, 2021). His recent article is "Shifting perceptions of insects in the late Choson period", International Journal of Korean History 25:1 (2020). Also, he is a contributor of Kanryu, Nichryu : Higashi Ajia bunka k ry no jidai (Tokyo: Bensei shuppan, 2014) and Myeongdong kilgori munhwasa (Han'gukhak chungang yeonguweon, 2019).
