Youn-Jeng Choi is an Associate Professor of Educational Measurement and Evaluation Major at the Department of Education at Ewha Womans University. Her research involves examining methodological issues in educational measurement. Most of her work has focused on (1) test/scale design and development: item analysis and validity study using differential item functioning (DIF) and factor analysis, (2) psychometrics: item response theory (IRT), mixture IRT, equating, and DIF, and (3) Applications using quantitative methodology: Bayesian analysis, multilevel modeling, and longitudinal data analysis.
She earned her Ph.D. in Quantitative Methodology Program at the Department of Educational Psychology at the University of Georgia. She worked as a postdoctoral research fellow in the Research in Learning, Assessing and Tutoring Effectively (RELATE) Educational Research Group at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). She also served as an Assistant Professor of the Educational Research Program at the Department of Educational Studies in Psychology, Research Methodology & Counseling at the University of Alabama for five and half years.
Dr. Choi has received several awards for her outstanding academic work, including the Brenda H. Loyd Outstanding Dissertation Award from the National Council on Measurement in Education (NCME) in 2016 and the Caribbean and African Studies in Education SIG Outstanding Research Paper Award from the American Educational Research Association (AERA) in 2020. In 2019, she was named the recipient of the McCrory Faculty Excellence Award for Teaching at the College of Education at the University of Alabama, and in 2021, she was selected as an outstanding professor of lectures at the Graduate School of Education at Ewha Womans University. She served as the editor-in-chief of the Journal of Educational Studies published by the Educational Research Institute of the College of Education at Ewha Womans University.
