Professor Sang-Don Lee of Environmental Science and Engineering at ELTEC College of Engineering recently published a paper in <Nature Ecology & Evolution> Journal last Thursday, April 22nd. The research team includes researchers from University of Hyogo, Keio University, and Boston University, USA. The title was ‘Declining phenology observations by the Japan Meteorological Agency’.

Professor Lee emphasized that, "while plant species are constantly monitored and data being managed, animal species are becoming increasingly difficult to observe due to various variables such as climate change, habitat destruction, and urban development." He added that,"in order to understand the impact of climate change, monitoring of animal species must be strengthened."

He also mentioned that, "In Korea, plant species bloom faster and faster, while animal species, insects and birds appear later in spring. We have gained a research result of a possibility of mismatch in nutritional groups (food chain stage) through monitoring."
