Ewha Institute for Leadership Development Receives Covid Pandemic Fund from the United Board for Christian Higher Educat

Ewha Institute for Leadership Development (Director Myung-seon Lee) received a special fund for overcoming the Corona 19 disaster from the United Board for Christian Higher Education in Asia, an Asian education sponsorship foundation in the United States. In the post-Covid-19 era, the necessity of supporting women as socially marginalized classes and the vision of proactive disaster overcome through women's leadership research were recognized.
'United Board for Christian Higher Education in Asia (UB)' created a 'Pandemic Response Fund' to support higher education institutions suffering from the Covid-19 pandemic this year and will provide a fund of 10,000 to 25,000 USD until December 31 (Thur) to the partner institutions. UB is supporting the expansion of equipment and facilities to respond to crises caused by the pandemic situation and transition to non-face-to-face education through special disaster relief projects.
The exchange between Ewha and UB began in 1983 with an agreement with the Korea Women's Research Institute and the Asian Women's Studies Center, and until now, the two institutions have maintained a solid cooperative relationship as an international exchange partner for the realization of a holistic education in Asia. The scholarship programs such as the Ewha-UB Faculty Scholarship and the UB-EGPP Scholarship Program were actively carried out, starting with the support for the education of the seminary and medical school signed in 2015. From 2020, the scope has been expanded to the areas of global leadership cultivation and female talent development, and the Asian Women's Presidents Forum was successfully held in October this year under the co-host of Ewha Institute for Leadership Development-UB. In particular, the Asian Women's Presidents Forum, which was held online after the Covid situation, is evaluated to have formed a network of female presidents in Asian universities and provided a place for exchange and sharing to discuss the challenges facing crisis situations. Even today, the two organizations continue to seek joint operation of programs to support and foster female leaders in developing countries in Asia, continuing the foundation for innovation in higher education and fostering global leaders.
It is significant in that the Ewha Institute for Leadership Development 's Pandemic Response Fund order will continue to discover the agenda of women's leadership and women's talent development by highlighting women as socially underprivileged ones who are directly affected by the pandemic situation, and will have a foundation for expansion of a leadership research and education program.
It is expected that through the Pandemic Response Fund, Ewha Institute for Leadership Development will be able to actively conduct new leadership research and education programs in response to crisis times by establishing a long-term vision for women's research in the post-Covid-19 era differentiated from other institutions in the future.
