Ewha University Library (Director Professor Mi-Kyeong Cha) signed MOU with the Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education, agreeing to exchange information and foreign academic journals.

Seoul Metropolitan Office has several affiliated institutions, including 11 District Offices of Education, 17 libraries, several Education Research & Information Institutes and Training Institutes. The MOU allows the users to access to materials of Ewha Womans University's Foreign Research Information Center and to apply for the original copy service on the website of the E-Library of the Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education.

Director Professor Mi-Kyeong Cha said at the signing ceremony, "We hope we can fulfill the needs of researchers of the Education Office. We also hope the MOU can lay a groundwork for a future foreign research resources sharing.” Jeong-Heum Baek, director of the Lifelong Career Education Bureau of the Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education, also said, "the MOU will play a meaningful role amid the current Pandemic, since it allows people to access to advanced foreign academic resources without any physical

contacts with others." Director Baek also added that "I hope the MOU, especially the original copy service, can encourage research and academic activities."

The Foreign Research Information Center Project is run by the Korea Education and Research Information Service and supported by the Ministry of Education. The project has been promoted since 2009 to encourage public institutions to share foreign academic journals, reduce repeated budgets for subscribing to academic journals, and strengthen national research competitiveness. A total of 10 universities have been selected for the project as centers specialized in specific fields. Ewha’s Foreign Research Information Center Project is a center specialized in education, social studies, and arts. The center provides free literature copying services and has been selected as the best center for four consecutive years.
