Professor Seongjin Kim of chemistry and nanoscience major at Ewha was awarded with Changjojang (level 1), Order of Merit for science and technology field on Science, Info-Communication Day anniversary, organized by Ministry of Science and ICT.
Dr. Kim developed a hydrogen microleak detection sensor related to eco-friendly hydrogen cars and nano-grain coating method of thermoelectric materials converting thermal energy into electricity. She was honored with the Changjojang (creation award) for leading the development of nanoscience field.
Celebrating the 53rd science day (21st of April) and 65th Info-communications day (22nd of April), the Ministry of Science and ICT awarded 129 people, including 79 people for ‘Science and technology development of the year’ and 50 people for ICT section. The government awarded Professor Seongjin Kim a certificate of creation, the highest level in science and technology development. The government also awarded seven people including Jungwoo Cho, CEO of SK Biopharm, Joonyeon Jang, senior researcher at the Korea Institute of Science and Technology and Jungho Park, CEO of SK Telecom.
Dr. Kim is a world-renowned researcher in the field of nano sensors. She is also a regular member of Korean Academy of Science and Technology, has contributed the development of basic science by publishing a number of SCI academic papers and patents. She also carried out various activities in science and education policy field, won the awards of the Minister of Science, ICT and future planning (2017), and award of Korean chemical society (2013).
