A total of 291 Ewha graduates passed the final stage of the public teacher employment examination for the 2023 school year. While the recruitment group for this year was reduced by around 17 percent compared with 2022, the acceptance rate of Ewha graduates actually increased. The school also produced top- and second-scoring candidates in counseling, early childhood education, special education, English language, science, mathematics, fine arts, and music in multiple regions across the country. It was considered an excellent outcome.

Students who have obtained a teacher’s certificate after completing courses in a college of education, a graduate school of education, or a Teacher Training Program at a general university are eventually selected as eligible candidates for appointment as teachers at public schools through a competitive examination composed of a first round of exams on pedagogy and major curricula and a second-round evaluation including in-depth interviews on teaching aptitude, preparation of teaching and learning guidance plans, and demonstration lessons. Ewha graduates and prospective graduates completing courses at the College of Education (Dean: Gyu-Ho Hwang), the Graduate School of Education (Dean: Eunhye Park Han), and the Teacher Training Program took the competitive examination. Ewha produced a total of 291 successful candidates in this year’s public teacher employment examination, including 217 for secondary school, 47 for elementary school, nine for kindergarten, and 18 for non-curricular positions in school health, library science, nutrition, and counseling. Notably, it produced the top and second-place candidates in multiple regions.

In fine arts education, Ewha graduates also took the top and second place. In addition, many other Ewha graduates were honored to score first and second place in Seoul and other regions.

Ewha systemically supports students and graduates in their preparation for the public teacher employment exam by maintaining a study room dedicated to the exam, offering special lectures by external experts (including current school teachers who graduated from Ewha), providing a space for and feedback on demonstration lessons, and performing in-depth mock interviews. As a result, Ewha raised the acceptance rate for its graduates and produced many top- and second-place candidates in major fields in the 2023 public teacher employment examination, maintaining its status as the sole comprehensive teacher training institution in Korea.
