Professor Kwan-Mook Kim is a professor of Department of Chemistry and Nanoscience, stands alone in the world especially in the research field of chirality conversion of amino acids. He has rich experiences in syntheses and analyses of various organic and inorganic chemical compounds, and is opening a route to industrialization of the amino acid technologies through patent transfers. Currently he is interested in the origin of homochirality of bio-compounds including amino acids. He obtained the PhD degree through the cooperation program between KIST and Yonsei University at 1997. He worked as a research scientist at KIST from 1989 to 2004 and then moved to Ewha Womans University at 2004 as a faculty member. His research about chirality conversion was highlighted by the journal, Science, at 2007. More than 50 papers of him were published in SCI journals and more than 10 technologies were granted and applied as international and domestic patents.
