[UNDERGRADUATE, DEGREE-SEEKING] Changes of Application for Leave of Absence and the New Undergraduate “Completion” System

1. Application for Leave of Absence

-Pop-up Notice:

Please visit the Office of International Affairs, in order to apply for a leave of absence. Your application is processed at the Global Service Center (ECC B329), Office of International Affairs.

2)  Application Period for 2015 spring semester

A. BEFORE start of new semester (BEFORE Enrollment):

2014.12.15(Mon.) ~ 2015.2.27(Fri.)

B. AFTER start of new semester (AFTER Enrollment):

2015.3.1(Sun.) ~ 2015.5.28(Thurs.)

 Application is only accepted during the above period.

 

3)  Matters regarding students who may not proceed with applying for leave of absence

A. Scholarship Return

Only relevant students will receive pop-up notice.

- How to return scholarship?:

ü  Contact Scholarship Team (02-3277-2274) and inquire about scholarship amount and the return method.

ü  Scholarship awardees must confirm whether she is relevant for scholarship return before applying for leave of absence.

 

B. Scholarship Bank Account Information

-Procedure: Online Application See pop-up notice notifying the student that she may not proceed with applying for leave of absence since her bank account information is not registered Submit a copy of your bankbook to scholarship team Visit Office of International Affairs Application Procedure Complete

-Pop-up Notice:

You are not eligible to apply for leave of absence due to lack of bank account information.

Please submit a copy of your bankbook with your student ID on it via e-mail(scholarship@ewha.ac.kr), fax(02-3277-2836), or visit the Student Union Building #203(tel)02-3277-2274) to register your bank account information first.

After registering bank account information, you may visit the Global Service Center(ECC B329) to apply for leave of absence. The Global Service Center(ECC B329) at the Office of International Affairs will process your application. Thank you for your cooperation.

C. Library Book Return and Late Fee

- Student will be advised to return library books and pay late fee, if relevant

(Pop-up notice will appear when student has library books unreturned.)

- Student can use library after she returns books and pay late fee before leave of absence.

 

2. New Undergraduate “Completion” System

Attention: Once an International Student with Student Visa(D-2) has “completed” the undergraduate program, her academic status will be reported to the Immigration Office and the Student Visa(D-2) will expire.
 

1) “Completion”: The University will recognize the completion of undergraduate   program for students who have enrolled for attendance years* and acquired credits for graduation.

*) undergraduate: 8 regular semesters, undergraduate-transfer: 4 semesters.

 

2) Guidelines for students applying for “Completion” in 2015 February
 

A. Student should meet ALL of the following criteria to be eligible to apply for    “Completion”:

Enrolled student who has completed 7 or more semesters OR student who has completed 8 or more semesters and is currently on a leave (Semester based on 2014 Fall, current) 

Student who acquired credits for graduation but have not graduated due to chapel credits and graduation paper (or graduation test, graduation presentation, experiment report)

  For the first time of adoption of the completion system, which is February, 2015, students who have not completed chapel credits may apply for “completion” but are required to complete chapel credits within 1 year after “completion”.

B. Procedure for “Completion”

Eureka Program is currently in development stage so “completion” procedure will be processed after the department (major) office confirms with the student on one’s decision (Graduation/Credit Registration).

Administrative Procedure for “Completion”: February, 2015

Please check your contact information listed in My Eureka system and make changes if necessary.

 C. Applying for graduation after “Completion”

After 2015 spring semester, student applies for graduation at the semester of her preference
Submit graduation paper (or graduation test, graduation presentation, experiment report) and acquire degree.

 

3) Students who are expected to graduate after 2015 spring

A. Relevant student

Enrolled student who has completed 7 or more semesters and student on leave who has completed 8 or more semesters

B. Procedure for Graduation and Completion

Department (major) office confirms with the relevant student on one’s decision during: Spring semester: Early July  /  Fall semester: Early December

Administrative Procedure for “Completion”:
Spring semester: End of August  /  Fall semester: End of February
