Introduction

The Institute of English and American Studies (IEAS) was founded in 1999 by the Department of English Language and Literature to establish a new perspective on English and American Studies in Korea.
IEAS aims to establish a Korean model of Studies in English Language and Literature in the global, multi-cultural era for a new generation of academics and English professionals. IEAS engages in various activities such as conferences both international and domestic, lecture series, and translation seminars as well as digitalization of its academic products. IEAS, in cooperation with English Department's BK project team, started a website (http://epasia.org), which mediates the English studies in Korea to the global community through the Internet.
IEAS publishes two academic journals: the Journal of English and American Studies provides a forum for discussing English and American culture from a de-centered, more global perspective. The Journal of English Linguistics publishes articles on English linguistics and all areas of applied linguistics.
