Nursing College aims to nurture leaders of nursing in the 21st century to contribute to human well-being and quality of life. Through the systematic nursing education based on human respect and service spirit, scientific nursing knowledge and practical skills needed to realize health promotion, prevention, recovery and well being of nursing subjects (children, youth, adults, elderly) Develop. To integrate the humanities, social sciences, natural sciences and the arts sciences and nursing sciences in an integrated way to demonstrate leadership capabilities in the health field. We will develop practical nursing experience in hospitals, schools, corporations, governments and research institutes along with school education, and emit them as global leaders with global competitiveness.

History

1903

Started as the first nursing education institution in Korea by Missionary Margaret Edmunds at the Caring for and Saving Woman's Hospital in Jungdong

1906

Four Korean women completed the nursing education course for the first time. Korea's first public ceremony

1908

Employment of two graduates by regular nursing education courses

1912

Moved nursing education institution from Jungdong to Dongdaemun Harris Memorial Hospital

1947

Establishment of nursing care in Ewha Womans University administration building.

1950

Expansion of the faculty of Nursing Education at Ewha Womans University
(Professor Lee Jung-ae)

1951

The Department of Nursing Education of the College of Medicine was reorganized into the Department of Nursing Education.

1955

For the first time in Korea, our school was accredited as a College of Nursing.

1959

Fifteen nursing students were discharged, and a mental health center was opened in the nursing science department.

1960

First graduate nursing master's degree program established in Korea

1968

Promoted to nursing university. Established clinical nursing department and health nursing department

1979

Established a graduate nursing doctoral degree program in 1979

1986

Ehwa 100th anniversary, 83rd anniversary of nursing education, Professor commemorating 31st anniversary of nursing college. Publications of alumni and nursing colleges

1989

Established nursing research institute

1990

Nursing Science Journal published "Nursing Science"

1996

Nursing University Nursing Department changed into Nursing Science Department, Nursing Institute changed to Nursing Science Institute

2005

Holding the 50th anniversary conference of the science of nursing science

2006

Increase the number of nursing science department by 20

2007

Reorganized into the School of Nursing Science in 2007

2008

Clinical nurse course was established at general graduate school

2012

Renamed to Nursing Department

2013

Acquired certification for nursing education certification

The aim of education

Based on human respect, we nurture female nurses who have scientific competence and global competence necessary for health promotion, disease prevention, health recovery, pain relief and well-being through therapeutic care relationship.

  • 1. Provide comprehensive nursing care by refinement and major knowledge.
  • 2. Apply skilled nursing based on scientific knowledge.
  • 3. Communicate effectively with the target person and the health care provider.
  • 4. Establish nursing professional intuitions based on legal and ethical standards.
  • 5. Demonstrate leadership in sharing and caring based on the Christian spirit.
  • 6. Plan and conduct research in the field of nursing and health care.
  • 7. Understand domestic and foreign nursing and health care status and policies.
  • 8. Cultivate international exchange ability as a nursing leader.
Careers after graduation

Graduates majoring in nursing care are not only professional nurses but also nurses in various fields such as anesthesia, health, home, premature, mental, infection control, hospice, emergency, intensive care, insurance screening. He works in schools, industrial fields, public health centers, welfare facilities, childcare facilities and various healthcare related organizations. He is also serving as a healthcare administrator and a judge through administrative and judicial notices. Graduates who graduate from graduate schools and graduate with master's and doctoral degrees are active in educational institutions, hospitals and research institutes at home and abroad.
