Ewha Central Library (Director: Cha Mi-kyung) and Sejong City Library signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) on May 10 (Wed) at Sejong City Library on "Resource Sharing and Exchange Cooperation of the Foreign Research Information Center (FRIC).”

In this agreement, each organization decided to jointly promote ▲ the search for foreign academic journals and the provision of copy in the fields of education, society, and arts and sports ▲ mutual promotion of services and publications ▲ exchange of resources for other academic purposes, and so forth. Upon this agreement, each organization is expected to share information resources for foreign academic journals and establish a system of cooperation and support between libraries.

Sejong City Library is Sejong City's representative library, opened in November 2021, and with this agreement, citizens can now directly search for materials owned by FRIC and request for original copies through the Sejong City Library website.

Cha Mi-kyung, the director of Ewha Central Library, said at the signing ceremony, "We are happy to provide academic resources of Ewha FRIC to meet the needs of Sejong City Library users, and we hope it will be used a lot in the future for related studies.” Cho Seol-hee, the director of Sejong City Library, also said, "This agreement will provide foreign academic resource services that were lacking in public libraries before," adding, "We hope it will help citizens who are looking for research information and will continue to expand library services in various ways.”

FRIC is a project supported by the Ministry of Education (MOE) and organised by the Korea Education and Research Information Service (KERIS), and has been promoted since 2009 to contribute to the joint use of foreign academic journals by constructing the national system of collecting and preserving foreign journals, and to reducing academic subscription budgets and strengthening national research competitiveness. As of now, ten universities are selected and being operated as support centres of FRIC. As a foreign academic support centre in the field of education, society, and arts, Ewha Central Library is providing free copies and collecting and preserving foreign academic journals in the related field. Ewha Central Library has been selected as the best centre for six consecutive years in the 2021 FRIC evaluation.
