Professor Jeong-yeon Rhie from College of Pharmacy, Participates in 2020 Tokyo Olympics and Paralympics

Professor Sandy Jeong-yeon Rhie, who majored in Clinical Pharmaceutical Science and currently taking office as an associate professor in College of Pharmacy and a pharmacy department chair in Ewha Graduate School of Clinical Health Sciences, had worked as a professional pharmacist at the 2020 Tokyo Olympic and Paralympic Games.


The 2020 Tokyo Olympics and Paralympics Committee has invited four foreign professions in their Medical and Science department, and Professor Rhie was included in the team. Professor Rhie has experience of working as a director of Pharmaceutical Services at the 2018 Pyeongchang Olympic and Paralympic Games. By participating in this year’s game continuously, Dr. Rhie has once again been recognized for her status as a sports medicine expert.


Professor Rhie conducted training for Japanese sports pharmacists under the supervision of the Japanese National Anti-Doping Organization (NADO)and also participated in drug management and treatment activities for athletes in the era of pandemic. In addition, through this opportunity, she was able to participate in various studies conducted with pharmaceutical experts from Japan and IOC.


Professor Rhie is the one and only professional pharmacist in Korea who was certified by the IOC Certificate in Drugs in Sport Program. She is now conducting research on optimization of clinical application of drugs in the field of infectious diseases and sports drugs.
