The Special Invitational Lecture hosted by the Ewha Korean Cultural Research Institute(KCRI, Principal: Lee, Hai Young) was successfully completed.

The special lecture was held on June 18th, Friday, under the theme of "Korean and Russia: 150 years of culturalities," with Ekaterina Pokholkova, Dean of Translation and Interpretation Faculty at Moscow State Linguistic University(MSLU).

More than 70 researchers and students, not only from Korea but also from various countries including Russia, Hong Kong, and the United States, participated in the web lecture. During the Q&A session, they exchanged opinions on various topics, run the gamut from the view on future relationship between Korea and Russia and the future of Korean culture education in Russia. This is significant in that it showed the potential for researchers to communicate beyond the constraints of space in the New Normal era.

“The cultural exchange between Russia and Korea began 150 years ago, and the beginning of the study of Korean studies in Russia is long enough to date back to 1897,” said Professor Lee, who is also a faculty member of Global Korean Studies Department at Scranton College. “This special lecture was a valuable time to observe the overall relationship between Korea and Russia and the study of Korean studies in Russia. We hope that the opportunity to share academic achievements between the two countries will be expanded in the future."
