Graduate School of Music Therapy Establishes a Music Therapy Diploma Program at Medical School in University of Sharjah

Ewha Graduate School of Music Therapy (Department Chair: Hyunju Chong) has signed agreements and cooperated with University of Sharjah, Medical College in UAE since 2013. From 2021, Graduate School of Music Therapy will establish music therapy diploma program at the Clinical & Surgical Training Center in University of Sharjah. The program, which is aimed at educating and training specialized music therapy protocol for rehabilitation experts, will be carried out in English. Christine Minji Kim, graduate of Ewha Graduate School of Music Therapy, is currently a coordinator for local music therapy curriculum and will lead the program along with graduates and doctoral students from Ewha.
Since 2013 when Ewha Womans University and University of Sharjah signed an agreement, approximately 20 graduate intern students from Ewha Graduate School of Music Therapy and 10 supervisors were dispatched to Sharjah City for Humanitarian Services, SCHS, to carry out therapy education so far. In addition, the graduate school has carried out Music Therapy Workshop and expert training for special education and rehabilitation experts in UAE every year. By continuously developing and providing locally-optimized professional education programs, Ewha Graduate School of Music Therapy was able to form agreements and establish curriculums and programs.
Graduate School of Music Therapy at Ewha plans to provide excellent academic support and human resources of Ewha locally and become a pioneer in the Arab region where music therapy is not widely developed yet.
