Professor Goo Taeg Oh of the Department of Life Sciences, elected president of the Korean Society for Molecular and Cell

Professor Goo Taeg Oh of the Department of Life Sciences is elected as the next president of the Korean Society for Molecular and Cellular Biology in 2020.


The Korean Society for Molecular and Cellular Biology, established in 1989, is currently the nation’s largest academic conference in the field of life sciences with 15,000 members, and tt hosts an international academic conference every year. Meanwhile, its official journal <Molecules and Cells> recorded Impact Factor 3.533 according to the Journal Citation Reports 2018.


Professor Oh said, "I am deeply thankful for the opportunity to serve the conference in the harsh reality of overcoming the difficult situation with individual sacrifice and collective intelligence." He added that "I will spare no effort to lead the change and follow the spirit of seniors who have developed the conference."


Professor Oh has served as chairman of the Presidential Advisory Council on Education, Science & Technology’s Life and Medical Committee, head of the vessel& immune cell network research team for the Leader Research Support Project (Creative Research), and a member of the Bio Special Committee of the ‘Ministry of Science and ICT. He was selected for a new project of the 2020 National Research Foundation of Korea's Leader Researcher Support Project in May. He is now focusing on identifying the immune system’s cell function and molecular mechanisms, which mediates the Heart-Brain Bidirectional Interaction.
