Lina Chun, alumni from Ewha Graduate School of Chemistry and Nanoscience is expected to be appointed as the new full-time professor at Virginia Tech from January 2021.
Alumna Lina Chun entered Ewha’s master’s and doctorate program (2016, Adviser: Dongha Kim) and continued her post-doctorate training at University of Toronto and University of California at Berkeley, finally being appointed as the new faculty at Virginia Tech and starting her work as assistant professor from January, 2021. Chun’s case is notable because it is the first time that an Ewha alumna who received their doctorate degree at Ewha Graduate School of Chemistry and Nanoscience is to be appointed as a professor in a prominent American university.
Dr. Chun has carried out research on Perovskite optoelectronic device under professor Dongha Kim while her time at Ewha, publishing papers as the principal author on journals such as Nature Nanotech., J. Am. Chem. Soc., Adv. Mater. and Nano Lett. She also received Outstanding Thesis Paper Award, Korea Dow Chemical Outstanding Paper Award and second prize in MRS Meeting Graduate Student Award among others.
