The Department of Korean Studies at the Graduate School of International Studies (GSIS) hosted a special lecture series “Exploring Korean Culture and Korean Language Education” for Ewha students who are interested in the subjects on December 5, 2019.

In the lectures, Choi Joon Sik, professor at the Department of Korean Studies, presented the flow of the Korean culture from the Paleolithic Age to modern times under the theme, “the Korean Concert – Introduction to Korea, Our Country,” while professor Lee Haiyoung showed the audience interested in Korean language education the current status of Korean language education at home and abroad under the theme, “Korean Language Teaching for Foreigners.”

On the same day, an alumnae association meeting was held for the first time since the department was established. The Department of Korean Studies at Ewha Womans University, established first among standard universities in Korea in March 1982, has produced distinguished professionals through master's and doctoral degrees in Korean culture and Korean language education for 37 years. The meeting was attended by those alumnae who have been working actively as professors, field experts and researchers from both domestic and international universities and organizations. They availed themselves of the opportunity to interact, while reinforcing the Ewha alumnae network.
