Ewha Womans University has received a donation of KRW 500 million to the Ewha West Campus Construction Fund from alumna Oh Hye-sook (Medicine, graduating class of 1978).
Alumna Oh is an obstetrician-gynecologist who operates a clinic in Uijeongbu, Gyeonggi Province. Since 1994, out of deep affection towards her alma mater and Ewha Womans University Medical Center, she has made donations for various purposes including scholarship funding, establishment of educational infrastructure, and the development of Ewha Womans University. In particular, she made a sizeable donation for the establishment of Ewha Womans University Seoul Hospital, which led to the naming of Oh Hyesook Hall after her in the hospital.
The donation will be used for the Ewha Womans University’s West Campus Construction Project. This large-scale project, which includes the redevelopment of Morris Hall and the Alumnae Building, aims to transform the area near the university’s western back gate into a state-of-the-art future campus focused on global convergence research, industry-academia collaboration, and entrepreneurship. Ewha Womans University will also create a space named after alumna Oh Hye-sook in the newly built campus to commemorate her donation.
