The farewell ceremony for the 2022 Second Semester international exchange and visiting students was held on December 8 (Thu.) at the Lee Sam-bong Hall of the ECC building by the Office of International Affairs.

외국인 교환·방문학생 프로그램 수료식The Office of International Affairs, which runs programs for international exchange and visiting students every semester, has strived to raise student satisfaction by holding face-to-face events and developing various programs since the return of offline lectures. Fueled by such efforts, the number of international exchange and visiting students in the second semester of 2022 bounced back to the pre-pandemic level, reaching the number of 380 students. The Office of International Affairs held the first farewell ceremony in three years after COVID-19 and successfully completed the international exchange and visiting student program for the second semester of 2022.

The International Exchange Affairs organized various opportunities for field trips for international exchange and visiting students this semester and actively supported their adaptation to life at Ewha by matching them with the volunteer club “Peace Buddy,” an affiliated organization of the International Exchange Affairs. In addition to resuming various social gathering events like Movie Day, the International Exchange Affairs planned new events in collaboration with Peace Buddy, including Ewha PEACE Sports Day and Ewha Thanksgiving Day, in order to provide students with opportunities to experience Korean culture such as Korean sports festivals and Chuseok. International students eagerly took part in offline events that returned after a long hiatus and keenly welcomed field activities with mentors including those from Peace Buddy.

The representatives for international exchange students, Daniel Quintin Austin (Wilfried Laurier University, U.S.) and Maria Fernanda Richardt Rios (University of Colima, Mexico) described their impressions and experiences as exchange students at Ewha and remarked, “We made so many friends who approached us with an open mind and helped us to adapt to life in Korea, which made all the concerns I had before I started the exchange and visiting program seem pointless.” In addition, they also thanked Ewha for providing an unforgettable and meaningful experience while mentioning various activities that they shared with Peace Buddy.
